M+J Woodcrafts Eco-Friendly Initiatives

Whether you’re building a new home from scratch or renovating, construction can be a messy business. Think of all the sawdust, drywall dust, masonry dust, and regular dust—so much dust! And then  there are scraps of construction material—wood products, carpet, tile, wiring—plus all the packing and wrapping materials that hold that stuff together to ship it to you. From packaging to transportation and installation, all of these steps have an environmental impact.

We at M+J Woodcraft care about our environmental footprint and are committed to the following guidelines do do our part:

Only using FSC Certified materials

Zero waste

Keeping up to date with LEED trends and being LEED ready

Recycling our wood particle dust and offcuts

Recycling packaging materials like cardboard, shrink wrap, bubble wrap, and poly strapping

Shutting the shop down 2 Fridays each month to reduce our carbon impact on the environment

Reducing office paper use by over 25%

When considering cabinet doors for your next project, make sure to look at M+J Woodcrafts varied selection of high-quality cabinet doors. We’ve implemented greener technologies and environmentally friendly materials while maintaining the best lead times and quality products within our industry.

We are a certified member of the Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) Downstream program, the most widely specified environmental certification program for composite wood products in North America. The EPP logo lets you know that we’ve demonstrated our commitment to the environment by making our cabinet doors with at least 50% Composite Panel Association’s (CPA) EPP certified composite wood products. Meaning that’s we have met and adhere to standards set by an independent organization that inspects and measures our performance through audits and site visits.

We also stay up-to-date with the requirements for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, a voluntary environmental certification system that covers design, construction, operation, and maintenance. It is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. M+J Woodcrafts will help assure LEED certification of your project.

In our manufacturing, we live up to the commitments of our environmental certifications. We use recyclable material, such as our 3DL (three-dimensional laminate cabinet doors), to build durable products that won’t need replacing anytime soon. We recycle the 3DL and wood particle dust along with packaging materials like cardboard, shrink wrap, bubble wrap, and poly strapping. We also use the best machinery for our products to ensure efficient use of energy. We work with partners and suppliers who share our commitment to the environment and sustainable practices. We shut down our shop two Fridays each month to reduce our carbon footprint.

At M+J Woodcrafts, we have strict guidelines that reflect our principles, shape our actions, and help us meet our environmental goals.
